Bitmain Unleashing Antminer S5

Bitmain, which made its name with the release of the compact 180 GH/s Antminer S1 just over a year ago, is making waves again in time for 2015. The Antminer S5, which will be shipped starting December 27th for $450 USD, is every home miner’s dream: low profile (298 mm x 137 mm x 155 mm), optimal power consumption (reduced 30% from Antminer S3), and easier to manage than ever.

New Chip Design

Bitmain’s latest ASIC chip, the BM1384, can do 20% more hashing at 0.75V than the S3, and as previously noted consumes an overall 30% less power. The new chip is on the cutting edge of ASIC technology and is a must-have for those looking to stay current in the mining space.

The Antminer S5 contains 60 of the new BM1384s, all working hard to produce the maximum amount of Bitcoin for the serious and hobbyist miner alike.

Better Cooling

The Antminer S5 features just one fan in favor of noise and power consumption reduction. It uses two heat sinks in between the two PCBs, drawing all heat inward and then pushing it out with the use of a single fan. This is achieved with the use of a custom layout which is the culmination of many months of innovation on the part of the Bitmain team.

Easier Miner Management

The S5 comes equipped with a management solution which makes it incredibly easy for even the novice miner to effectively manage his miner as well as keep the miner’s firmware up-to-date and share administrative access over the internet. This could lead to a whole new market for those who sell their hashing time over eBay and in other ways, since they could grant temporary access to the buyers and would thus lead to better customer satisfaction.

The Future is Here

Don’t get left behind! The second batch of the Antminer S5 ships on January 4th. Be an early adopter and get ahead of the competition.
