Ripple's cumulative funding to date stands at $41m following Santander InnoVenture's $4m investment in its Series A round. This month has seen a flurry of funding announcements from various crypto companies, injecting an additional $40m of venture capital to the space. Blockchain technology startup Chain - the most notable raise of the month so far - closed a $30m funding round with support from companies including Visa. Report: Funding for Bitcoin, Blockchain Startups Grows to $550 Million in 2016

A new report from CB Insights has shown that funding investments in bitcoin and blockchain technology startups amounted to $550 million compared to almost no investment in 2012. According to CB Insights, post-2012 total funding has risen five percent, from $524 million in 2015 to $550 million in 2016. Yet, while some may consider this a small increase, the total funding amount has increased significantly from 2012 figures. Then only five deals, amounting to $1.3 million, were achieved. In 2015, Bitcoin and blockchain companies closed 74 deals, raising a total of $474 million USD in venture capital, an all-time high, according to a new report by CB Insights and KPMG. The three largest deals in the bitcoin space were also the three first Series C funding rounds, suggesting that the venture capital space is continuing to mature to mid-stage.
