The Full Lineup for Scaling Bitcoin is Now Available

The lineup for the third edition of the bitcoin developer conference Scaling Bitcoin is now available. Released today, the lineup features a heavy emphasis on talks devoted to scaling, or proposed improvements that would boost the transaction capacity of the bitcoin protocol. Planned talks include "Sidechain Scaling" by Bloq’s Paul Sztorc and "Progress on Scaling via Client-Side Validation" by developer Peter Todd. The event is scheduled to be held from 8th to 9th October in Milan, Italy, at Politecnico di Milano. The full program is divided into six sections including....

BFL Confirms 65nm Process for SC Lineup

Disclaimer: Bitcoin Magazine has previously run advertisements for Butterfly Labs. This article was written independently of this fact. -Ed. Aiming for longevity and efficiency of their products, Butterfly Labs (BFL) has confirmed their new SC chips will be using a 65nm process, the same transistor size as was used for Intel's wildly successful Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad processors. As BFL's main competitors, Avalon and bASIC, are reportedly built on 110nm and 90nm processes respectively, BFL should be able to hold the position of market leader in mining efficiency for some time to come.....

No single blockchain can carry all of DeFi right now, MyEtherWallet founder says

Scaling solutions sometimes come at the cost of decentralization. Most of DeFi's potential scaling options come at the cost of decentralization, according to Kosala Hemachandra, founder and CEO of crypto wallet solution MyEtherWallet. "From a perspective of fully decentralized blockchains, there's no blockchain that has a good enough scaling solution to support this many transactions," Hemachandra told Cointelegraph in an interview. "When you think from that perspective, Ethereum is the best solution out there."DeFi has boomed in 2020, with Ethereum arguably being the top choice for most....

Gavin Andresen proposes a roadmap for scaling Bitcoin.

Gavin Andresen proposes a roadmap for scaling Bitcoin. On October 6, Gavin Andresen, Chief Scientist at Bitcoin Foundation proposed a roadmap for overcoming challenges to scaling Bitcoin. Andresen suggests rolling out a hard fork that increases the maximum block size limit to enable Visa scale transaction volumes of about 3,000 transactions per second. The maximum block size is currently hardcoded at 1MB enabling 7 transactions per second, and if increased would have to be carefully chosen so that anybody with a reasonably fast computer and internet connection can run a full node else we....

Ethereum will outpace Visa with zkEVM Rollups, says Polygon co-founder

A new scaling solution, zkEVM Rollups, could allow Ethereum to overcome Visa in terms of transaction throughput, says Polygon co-founder Mihailo Bjelic. zkEVM Rollups, a new scaling solution for Ethereum, will allow the smart contract protocol to outpace Visa in terms of transaction throughput, said Polygon co-founder Mihailo Bjelic in a recent interview with Cointelegraph. Polygon recently claimed to be the first to implement a zkEVM scaling solution, which aims at reducing Ethereum’s transaction costs and improving its throughput. This layer-2 protocol can bundle together several....
