Alpha Technology Promises To Deliver “Long Before Any Of Our Competitors Even Ship”

Alpha Technology Promises To Deliver “Long Before Any Of Our Competitors Even Ship”

In the ongoing Scrypt ASIC race to the bottom, KnCMiner today announced that their 100 MH/s Titan will now be a 250 MH/s device, free of charge.  Previously, Alpha T had matched KnCMiner’s $/KH/s metric, also free of charge to remain competitive.  However, in response to today’s surprise announcement by KnCMiner, Alpha T’s Managing Director has chosen instead to release a letter from the Managing Director.

In it, Alpha Technology (Alpha T) reveals that there will not be anymore “matching” of hashrate cost metrics.  Instead, Alpha T will be focusing on delivering their products well ahead of all competitors, a more worthy goal in the minds of “investment miners.”

Alpha T Managing Director Calls Out KnCMiner

From Letter from the Managing Director (Mohammed Mubasher Akram):

We believe our biggest competitor at the moment is very much using a smoke and mirrors strategy, it seems after their orders were not filled they were forced to redesign and increase hash rates, if they are at a point where they can still be choosing hash rates then we don’t doubt we are vastly ahead. This is doubly true, considering they have no design documents confirming architecture, specifications, process nodes and very little technical details.

Our development started May 2013 and is scheduled to finish July 2014, since that start date we have been releasing constant proof of work confirming our development has been progressing for a while now. It seems to us our imminent release is hampering competitor’s sales forcing them to change architecture and inevitably pushing them back a safe distance from our release.

Alpha T’s Managing Director firmly believes in his firm’s lead in the current Scrypt ASIC race.  He anticipates that Alpha T will ship their product to consumers faster than their biggest competitors.  I think that Alpha T truly recognizes that the mining community wants the device that will ship the soonest, not necessarily the one that has the flashiest numbers.  For “investment miners” one of the most important factors in calculating return is when the item delivers.  Once ASICs are delivered, the difficulty will shoot up even more than it already is.

Alpha Technology Hints At Gen 2/Batch 2 Devices

In the first public statement about Alpha T’s future plans, Akram guaranteed that their second generation devices would be at least 650 MH/s.  Additionally, Akram has stated:

…we anticipate by the time competition’s product is released our next batch will be due shortly ensuring we can again stay one step ahead.

As has been stated since the very beginning, Alpha T also intends to open up batch 2 preorders to batch 1 customers first.  For those interested in Scrypt ASIC mining and Alpha T over KnCMiner, there is still one chance to be included in Alpha T’s first batch.

Alpha Technology Reopening Orders For Batch 1

Due to some unfulfilled and unpaid orders, Alpha T has additional first batch devices to sell to the public.  For the last few days, existing Alpha T customers have been able to email to order additional units. Many Alpha T customers that have been following weekly development updates have already leaped at the opportunity to get more devices. Starting on 3/28/14 at 3PM in the United Kingdom, Alpha T’s website will again open for additional preorders from new customers.

Unfortunately, new customers will be unable to pay their deposit using Paypal.  Alpha T has discovered that PayPal is not all that friendly to pre funded projects or crytpocurrency projects.  Alpha T is working with new payment processors to accept credit and debit card transactions in the near future.  In the mean time, payments will need to be made by Bitcoin or bank transfer, like MAT and unlike KnCMiner, Alpha T only requires a third deposit on its preorders as a sign of good faith.

Alpha Technology is still in tape-out - The company gets an overhaul

Alpha Technology was working towards shipping their Viper units by the end of July, but due to technical issues, they had to go through a second-tape-out process, thus delaying the shipments. They waited until July 28th to tell customers about this little surprise, distancing themselves from their claim of being transparent. Their news even went so far as to "remind" all of their customers that they upgraded their devices from 25MH/s to 250MH/s back in May. Even though PayPal did what PayPal does best, and locked Alpha Technology's funds, Alpha Technology was still able to fund the second....

Alpha Technology Announces New 'Back to Basics' Viper Miner Specs

British ASIC designer Alpha Technology has revised the spec for its upcoming Viper scrypt miner, promising a significant speed boost, but also dropping a few features in the process. The hashing power gains are significant: Alpha had originally promised 5 MH/s and 25 MH/s units, but earlier this year it revised those figures to 16 MH/s and 90 MH/s respectively. Now it is promising to deliver 50 MH/s and 250 MH/s - 10 times the original rates. The company says the decision was made after long consideration and lengthy negotiations with its partners, coupled with strong competition in the....

Alpha Technology has announced and opened pre-orders last November 2013 their first Batch of Scrypt Asics. Many costumers have made their pre order along with payment and haven’t seen any equipment yet. Alpha Technology led customers to believe they were still shipping in July for weeks and there is still no proof whatsoever that the equipment is being produced. This has spread some discomfort to the majority of the investors and many are already demanding refunds. It....
