GigOptix Expands Industrial ASIC Product Line (CX) Offering with ASIC SunriseTM Product Family to Address Advanced Low-Geometry Foundry Processes

GigOptix, Inc. (NYSE MKT: GIG), a leading supplier of advanced high speed semiconductor components and Structured ASIC chips for use in various areas such as Cloud connectivity, data centers, consumer electronics links and interactive applications, through optical and wireless communications networks, today announced the launch of the newest family of products for its Industrial ASIC Product Line (CX).

The new product line, named ASIC SunriseTM, will address high-performance designs in advanced low-geometry CMOS process nodes, accompanying the well proved and widely deployed Sunset-RescueTMfamily of products that offers customized ASIC designs at geometries from 65nm to 600nm.

The ASIC SunriseTM family of products will deploy the GigOptix’ low Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) cost, high-speed, low-power, and swift turn-around Structured ASIC design and skill to provide customizable CMOS ASIC solutions at 40nm, 28nm, and 14nm geometries.

GigOptix’ robust ASIC SunriseTM capability will address the emerging and fast-growing markets of industrial intense computation that are the growth engines for many rapidly developing areas such as high-performance computers (HPC), super-computers, mega-datacenters, and algorithm-intensive cryptographic devices such as those utilized in data encryption.

Hence, the Bitcoin, Litecoin and related cryptocurrency hardware providers can benefit from the newly released GigOptix ASIC SunriseTM platform to enhance performance in next-generation script mind systems developed by the industry leaders, as hash rates go to 100MH/s and beyond.

The SunriseTM ASIC roadmap has been developed in response to wide interest expressed from legacy and new customers that wish to enjoy the significant benefits of the legacy Sunset-RescueTM program, but through the modern low-geometries deployed now by various foundries, in order to enable their low power consumption and increased processing speed. This new family of products is available immediately for design launch at 40nm and 28nm, with initial products expected to be market ready in the 3rd quarter of 2014.

With the release of the GigOptix ASIC SunriseTM family of products to compliment the Sunset RescueTM product family which provides a direct pin for pin compatible replacement strategy for FPGA and ASIC device designs at 65nm and larger transistor sizes such as 0.13um, 0.18um, 0.25um, 0.35um, and 0.6um, GigOptix now offers the complete spectrum of processes to be deployed by its various industrial customers, mainly in the high-speed communication, intense-computing, test and measurement, and mil-aero markets.

“We are very pleased with the quality and performance of our most recent project, recently released after a record-fast 3 months development of our 0.13um CMOS design with first time success by the GigOptix ASIC team,” said Laszlo Erdelyi, CEO and General Manager at SiliconArt, Inc.

“We have chosen GigOptix as our partner for our next ASIC design in 40nm, which is already launched and expected to be released in production in 3rd quarter of 2014. We also look forward to the launch of our future designs in 28nm with GigOptix later this year, followed by our plan for 14nm geometry device designs in 2015 to address the higher speed and lower power needs of our computation-intensive applications.”

“We are very excited to introduce our new ASIC SunriseTM family of products, which complete our popular line of customized ASIC devices. In doing so, we are enabling a new generation of ASICs to address many new computationally intensive applications. We are also pleased to continuously win the trust of partners such as SiliconArt in the development of their emerging line of innovative products, supporting the advanced ASIC SunriseTM roadmap,” said Anil Chaudhry, Vice President and General Manager of the Industrial ASIC Product Line at GigOptix.

“Customers will be able to utilize GigOptix’ ASIC SunriseTM and immediately benefit from these customized ASICs primarily with low production costs and rapid design cycles. In addition, customers will enjoy other benefits associated with small transistor geometry, such as reduced chip area, faster data rates, low power consumption, and increased gate counts and densities for highly-integrated systems on chips (SoC). Our ASIC SunriseTM technology combined with our existing IP, and also the fact that we are not bound to a single CMOS process, now gives us a comprehensive ASIC portfolio with a path to address a much larger spectrum of our customers’ ASIC applications.”
