Video: Bitcoin Protection Bill Takes Stage in Public NH Senate Hearing

A bitcoin-related bill in New Hampshire which exempts persons using virtual currency from registering as money transmitters in New Hampshire drew significant support during a commerce committee hearing. If approved, House Bill 436 will allow companies to operate without having to follow strict KYC and AML restrictions. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Barbara Biggie and co-sponsored by Reps. Keith Ammon and John Hunt, passed the state house of representatives last month. On Tuesday, the Senate failed to obtain the 60 votes necessary to advance the Freedom Act bill which would stop the National Security Agency from collecting phone records of millions of Americans, regardless if they are suspected of any crime. Senators voted 58-42 in favor to bring the bill before the Senate, effectively killing the bill for this year.
