[INTERVIEW]BoostCoin and it’s X13 Algorithm

BoostCoin has received plenty of attention last week due to people interested in the X13 algorithm. However, it was not the first coin to implement it, the creators of the X13 algorithm abandoned their coin and now, boostcoin could be a very nice replacement to that which failed. BoostCoin is a PoW/PoS with a maximum of 40 million coins including the PoS stage, though it does have a 1% premine and therefore must be dealt with with caution. I spoke with the developer yesteday, and he was kind enough to answer a few questions I had asked him. Without further ado, the interview: I choose x13....

The Pros and Cons of the X11 Algorithm

Firstly, let me start out by saying that we fully support the X11 Algorithm and that we do believe it is the future for many coins out there. Especially considering that Scrypt ASICs have already been spotted in the wild, and that there are new ASICs of an expected 250 MH/s! The X11 Algorithm has its flaws though (cons), but do they outweigh all of the pros? Without further ado, let's take a look at the pros and cons of the X11 Algorithm. Litecoin's supposed X11 Logo. Pros. First Pro of the X11 Algorithm? Security: The algorithm uses eleven hashing functions from the Blake algorithm to the....

Vertcoin Introduces New POW Algorithm, Promises ASIC-Free Features

Vertcoin developers recently released a whitepaper that describes a roadmap to their new POW algorithm - Lyra2RE. As mentioned in the paper, Lyra2RE is a NIST5 based chain algorithm whose sole aim is to reduce miners' dependency on ASIC machines. The proposed algorithm somewhat adds up to the "anti-ASIC" campaign Vertcoin launched alongside its release in January 2014. The coin's development team therefore has a strong emphasis on implementing Lyra2E over their previous POW algorithm Scrypt-N. The latter's ASICs are already available in the market. Lyra2RE takes inspiration from the....

Interview with Geekkos CEO: Carlos Eduardo Wallauer

Geekkos is a project that was first introduced in November of 2014 by Twitter user @crazy_crypto, who is known for trading altcoins. He is the creator of the Geekkos altcoin and handles all business related to the coin. The coin specifications are as follows: Initial coin supply: 10M (10,000,000) distributed via crowdfunding. Algorithm: Scrypt – 100% PoS v2 (Proof of Stake) + PoP (Proof of Play). PoS: 10% fixed interest annually. I reached out to Carlos in hopes of an interview and sure enough he responded. Here is the interview hosted with Carlos(@crazy_crypto)

Solana Co-Founder Believes Bitcoin Needs to Change to Proof-of-Stake Consensu...

Anatoly Yakovenko, one of the co-founders of Solana, the proof-of-stake based, smart contracts enabled blockchain, issued a series of statements criticizing bitcoin’s consensus algorithm. In an interview on CNBC, Yakovenko stated that bitcoin might lose adoption if it doesn’t change to a proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus algorithm. Other organizations have also attacked bitcoin, hinting at this same change as a possible solution for what are considered drawbacks by some. Solana Creator Believes Bitcoin’s Proof-of-Work Consensus Algorithm Will Affect Its Usage Anatoly....
