Auto Dealership Accepts Litecoin for Tesla Purchase

Benz and Beamer auto dealership today announced it sold a Tesla Model SP85 to an anonymous customer for 5,447 litecoin, an equivalent of $90,000 at the time of purchase. The dealership processed the transaction in partnership with GoCoin, the first international payment platform to accept the alternative currency market with litecoin support.

"GoCoin makes it extremely easy for us to accommodate new customers looking to pay with bitcoin and other emerging digital currencies like litecoin," said the dealer, Naresh Shah. "Their platform secures the coin exchange for cash within minutes, creating a real win/win for my dealership and my customers."

With over 25 million coins in circulation and a total market cap of $615 million, litcoin has quickly gained ground as a popular crypto currency like bitcoin.

"When you consider transactions like this one approaching six figures, litecoin is proving there is room in the market for digital currencies beyond bitcoin," said Steve Beauregard, founder and CEO of GoCoin. "We're confident that we'll see dogecoin and other alt-currencies emerge to these levels as the markets mature."

Not terribly long ago, a car dealership out in Costa Mesa, California sold a Tesla vehicle for bitcoin. That dealership - Lamborghini Newport Beach - has announced that they've sold yet another vehicle for bitcoin. This time around it's the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Coupe. Sold for 216.8 BTC, the dealership says that much like last time, the bitcoins were immediately converted to dollars following the transaction. Transaction time? 72 hours. Let's put that into perspective. Someone who may have spent some time mining bitcoin with ordinary PC hardware in 2009 is now able to purchase a....

Tesla Motors: No Comments on Accepting Bitcoin

With recent news that a customer purchased a Tesla electric vehicle from Lamborghini Newport Beach, some have raised the question: why doesn't Tesla sell their vehicles to customers directly with bitcoin? It's an interesting question, so we set out to get in touch with the company regarding the matter. Unfortunately, we didn't receive much. They were quick to get back in touch, but the company says that: "Tesla does not have an official stance at this point", and "No comment from us." It's understandable. Very few companies in the automotive business are accepting anything but U. S.....
