Ratio Now Accepting Bitcoin as Payment for Services

Ratio, a multi-screen digital agency working with brands to extend across all major consumer platforms, announced today that it will be the first multi-screen agency to accept payments in Bitcoin.

Although commercial use of Bitcoin is still in early stages, Ratio believes that companies worldwide will continue adopting the digital currency, making it an easy to use alternative for secure payments in the future.

“Bitcoin is a valuable new concept for consumers and businesses, and we look forward to joining the growing list of companies using it. The service addresses the need for a secure global digital currency that anyone can use,” said Ratio Chief Financial Officer Casey Stenzel.

“As an agency working to help our customers create their own digital strategies, we are proud to promote, accept and help accelerate the use of this new way to do business.”

Bitcoins were created in 2009 as a digital currency that uses cryptography to control the creation and transfer of money. Unlike traditional currencies, the creation and management of Bitcoin’s currency supply is mathematically regulated and decentralized, making it unregulated by a central bank or government. Many Bitcoin advocates view this independence as a key benefit of the service.

From a merchant perspective, Bitcoins are virtually immune from counterfeiting and don’t carry the fees that credit cards do, giving them several unique benefits. Other notable innovative companies have recently announced support for Bitcoin as well, including online retail giant Overstock.com, Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, the NBA Sacramento Kings and WordPress.
