Crypti Foundation Announces Decentralized Application (Dapp) Hackathon Contest

The Crypti Foundation, the team behind Crypti, the next generation crypto-currency and decentralized application (dapp) platform, today announced the start of a hackathon contest. In order to win lucrative Crypti (XCR) prizes, Node.js and JavaScript developers can submit Crypti based decentralized applications (dapps).

Built over the course of a year by a geographically dispersed team of developers and entrepreneurs, the Crypti decentralized application (dapp) platform provides thousands of Node.js developers with a full stack (consensus, hosting, storage and computing) solution for launching decentralized applications onto the blockchain.

As part of an ongoing beta test of the platform, and following on from the recent open sourcing of its core Crypti client. The contest announced today, is aimed at incentivizing Node.js and JavaScript developers, to step up to the challenge of building the first round of decentralized applications (dapps) on the Crypti network. Where developers will also be provided with a once in a lifetime opportunity to showcase their unique talents, and furthermore, demonstrate the possibilities of the Crypti platform to its greatest extent.

The contest starts on October 13th, 2015 and lasts for 8 weeks until the last submission date of December 8th, 2015. Where after 2 weeks, the Crypti Foundation will announce the winners on 22nd December, 2015. The contest will be grouped into two winning categories. With the Crypti community and Crypti Foundation both voting individually for 3 dapps thought to be the best overall.

The initial prize fund started off with 300,000 XCR in donations, and thanks to ongoing contributions from the Crypti community and individual foundation members, has now grown to over 750,000 XCR. With first, second and third prizes being awarded to both the Crypti community and Crypti Foundation categories. Further donations are expected to be made as the contest picks up pace.

In order to seed the imagination of any aspiring contestants. The Crypti Foundation has presented two example decentralized applications (dapps). Both of which, representing what can be potentially achieved on the platform using only a few lines of code. The first being: 'Encrypti', a decentralized application operating on a side chain of the Crypti network. Enabling users to securely store encrypted text files, such as passwords, credit card information and other sensitive data on the blockchain. The second example, being a decentralized Twitter-like application, allowing users to publish short messages onto a user accessible timeline.

A full compliment of documentation and tutorials on how to develop Crypti based decentralized applications (dapps), including the source code for all example applications, has been made available to developers via the Crypti Foundation's GitHub account: crypti.

The Crypti Foundation’s Community Manager, Max Kordek said:

“Today is an exciting day for Crypti. It marks the start of our long awaited hackathon, where we hope to see the best of the best within the Node.js, JavaScript and crypto-currency communities come together to compete, for what is growing to be quite a sought after prize.”

Kordek added:

“To all the developers out there, looking to build decentralized applications, but aren't sure where or how to do it yet. Please head on over to our recently launched group chat platform: Where the Crypti Foundation, and Community, are both waiting to guide you on the way to building your first decentralized applications on the Crypti network.”
