Krater, a new bitcoin mining rig builder, is offering a clone of the Avalon ASIC mining rig. Krater says it has purchased 10,000 Avalon ASIC chips and plans to build (to order) rigs with up to 320 chips in each that could reach a theoretical high of 90 giga-hashes per second (Ghps). If you have already purchased some Avalon ASICs, Krater will still build the rig for you. In its FAQ, Krater describes itself as: We are just three normal guys from Ohio. Californian firm TerraHash is promising customers huge mining rigs using Avalon ASIC chips from designer BitSuncom. The company will use ASIC boards from BKKCoin, a Thailand-based electrical engineer who has been creating a specification for a circuit board containing 16 Avalon chips. “The boards for which we provide the Avalon ASICs, will start shipping in about 2 months,” said Terrahash in its FAQ. “We have already ordered 20,000 Avalon chips, and will order more in the coming days. Avalon Ships Bitcoin's First Consumer ASICs

For the past seven months, application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) have been the central focus of Bitcoin mining development. Ever since Butterfly Labs became the first company to publicly announce its upcoming ASIC technology in June 2012, four startup companies have been in a race to be the first to release the technology. Now, it looks like the race finally has a winner: Avalon. On January 19, the countdown timer which the company had boldly placed on its website weeks before has reached zero, and within hours, the company sent off its first batch of 300 mining rigs to its....

Bitcoin ASIC builder Terrahash changes refund policy and refuses customer

Terrahash, one of several ASIC mining rig builders, has changed its refund policy. The company's FAQ has recently been updated to say that all orders are final. It does, however, say that customers can request a refund prior to shipping, and such requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Terrahash is selling mining rigs based on Avalon ASICs, which puts it at the mercy of the Avalon supply chain. Unfortunately, claims were made against Avalon that it was mining with customer ASICs. Terrahash has already changed its shipping policy. The company originally announced its DX Large....

Avalon accused of mining with customer ASICs

Avalon, a maker of bitcoin ASICs, has been accused, on the Bitcoin Forum, of using its products to mine bitcoins before shipping to customers. The controversy came to light after a customer of the company reported having examined the configuration of his/her mining devices, and described one as being in a dusty condition and configured to contribute to coins to a bitcoin pool. Furthermore, after querying the blockchain with the address stored in the ASIC under question, it was found that the device had paid to a bitcoin address that, on April 22, had received a total of 716.40851602 BTC.....

Avalon 6 Review: 3.5 TH/s ASIC Bitcoin Miner Is Stable and Powerful

The Avalon 6 ASIC Bitcoin miner is the latest in Bitcoin hardware from Canaan-Creative/Avalon. Much like the Avalon 4, the new housing makes for a streamlined cooling and setup method. Canaan-Creative, who resurrected the damaged Avalon brand, has worked hard on these next gen ASICs as well as their customer service. This effort has led to the partnership with BlockC.co for distribution. BlockC sent an Avalon 6 for review using their new distribution center in Silicon Valley. Having a US-based distributor allowed for fast shipping and the Avalon 6 (A6) arrived quickly and safely. The specs....
