Cryptex Card Introduces Bitcoin-to-Cash ATM/Payment Card

A Hong Kong-based start-up is looking to help bitcoin users more easily convert their digital currency into dollars with the use of a bitcoin-to-cash ATM/payment card. Announced today at the Inside Bitcoins conference in New York City, the Cryptex Card will allow consumers to "to turn cryptocurrency into cash at hundreds of thousands of ATMs and millions of merchants' point-of-sales (POS) worldwide, regardless of whether the merchants or banks accept cryptocurrency." In other words, it's a pretty big deal. According to Cryptex, the card will be usable in about 80 countries, and here in the....

Cryptex Bitcoin Debit Card 'Works on 90% of US ATMs'

Hong Kong startup Cryptex has launched a new 'bitcoin ATM debit card' that the company claims should work with as many as 90% of US ATMs, plus thousands more worldwide. The Cryptex Card is an unusual hybrid that allows users to take out cash on standard bank ATMs, but with the source of the funds being, indirectly, your bitcoin wallet. The user does not actually make direct bitcoin-to-fiat exchange transactions via the card, however. First the card user must send bitcoins to a linked Cryptex bitcoin address. Next, a specified amount of these bitcoins are converted into fiat currency, which....

Mt. Gox Introduces One-Time Password Card

Mt. Gox has introduces what they are calling, perhaps aptly enough, the "one-time password (OTP)" card. Gox's own Yubikey solution. When used, the card will generate a code every time the user tries to log in, withdraw funds, or access their security center. Mt. Gox says that the card is priced at $39.99 and it's available for purchase and shipping now. You can find more....

BitInvest's Coincard is a Prepaid MasterCard for Bitcoin Lovers

Leading Brazil-based digital currency exchange BitInvest has launched the Coincard, a bitcoin-friendly prepaid MasterCard. The concept is simple. The card can be topped up with bitcoins, but you can use it pretty much like any other MasterCard. Similar concepts have been employed by Cryptex and BitPlastic. BitPlastic has been around for a while, though it has attracted plenty of criticism over its pricing scheme, among other issues. Cryptex, on the other hand, is new to the game: it announced its AML/KYC compliant Cryptex Card earlier this week, which can be used in 80 countries. Coincard....

The Coinsis Bitcoin Credit Card Will Also Support Blackcoin

Coinsis and Blackcoin May Be Partnering Up For BTC/BC Debit/Credit Card. Bitcoin debit and credit cards are all the rage. There are several either on the market or in the pipeline right now. One of those is Coinsis. Technically, Coinsis is not a Bitcoin debit card at all. Instead, it will quickly exchange Bitcoin for USD and then load it on the card. The process takes about 15 minutes, after that, the money can be spent instantly. It isn't quite the instant conversion to fiat some people were hoping for, it works similar to Cryptex's card rather than Xapo's. The Xapo card pays the credit....
