BTC China Introduces Picasso Web Wallet And Lamassu Vending Machine: NO ATM

As I mentioned yesterday, OKCoin and BTC China both announced “The First Bitcoin ATM in China” yesterday. BTC China Bobby Lee wanted to show the world that 4/15/14 is just another day for Bitcoiners. There isn’t a magical guillotine from the PBOC that will be dropped today, as rumors of a private PBOC notice circulated only to banks and 3rd party payment processors requiring stricter adherence to the 12/5/13 notice finally peter out. Bobby Lee took to CNBC for an exclusive interview to highlight to somewhat ignorant mainstream media that Bitcoin “defies talk of China crackdown.” At....

Lamassu CEO Zach Harvey Talks About and Demos Bitcoin 'Vending Machine'

We've been calling the Lamassu bitcoin machine an ATM for some time, but we should properly correct ourselves and call it a bitcoin 'vending machine', because it does not exchange bitcoin-to-cash. Rather, you insert cash, and you get bitcoin sent to an address of your choosing. That said, The Verge has uploaded a great video from CES 2014 demonstrating the machine, along with a question-and-answer session with Lamassu CEO Zach Harvey. It's pretty interesting, so if you find yourself with a spare few minutes, check it out.

Lamassu Order-to-Ship Time Reduced to 8 Weeks, Unveils New Pedestal

Lamassu is busy at work on their vending machines, which have been a hit amongst operator start-ups around the world. The company is now projecting they'll deliver their 200th machine by May of this year, with at least one device on six of the seven continents (we're waiting for the day one turns up in Antartica). MIT’s Media Lab unveiled a vending machine that accepts bitcoin with a quirky twist — it was stocked solely with Soylent. Soylent and Bitcoin? A picture of the vending machine was tweeted out by MIT’s own Ethan Zuckerman last night. In it, you can see the machine was mostly empty aside from a few bottles of Soylent. The vending machine even comes equipped with a QR code for people to conveniently scan. The machine first came to public attention sometime last year, as a few people tweeted about the possibility of MIT Lab getting a bitcoin-compatible vending machine. Speculation made its way....
