The Bitcoin Foundation just might be looking to up their game when it comes to their doings in the nation's capital. A report from the Wall Street Journal indicates that the Foundation has hired a lobbying firm to serve as their political muscle power on Capitol Hill. The firm, Thorsen French Advocacy, is led by two former bipartisan congressional staffers, according to WSJ. Their responsibilities are clear enough: give bitcoin a good name. Falcon Global Capital Hires Lobbyists to Promote Bitcoin in Washington

Falcon Global Capital has filed to register lobbyists on Capitol Hill in an effort to further "education and understanding of bitcoin and other crypto-graphic based currencies". Co-founder Brett Stapper said: "In our discussions and debates we have realized that those who oppose bitcoin don't really oppose it, they simply don't understand it." Though more US politicians are taking an active interest in the technology,....

Lobbying Firm Representing MasterCard Taking Up Bitcoin Issues in Washington

Lobbying. It's a pretty big thing on Capitol Hill. And with the tremendous growth of bitcoin over the past year, you can bet that the digital currency (and perhaps digital currency as a whole) has started to become a talking point for lobbyists. In an LD-2 Disclosure Form (which is a lobbying report, see the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995), which clearly states the firm is working for MasterCard, the company listed bitcoin as one of the many issues they're working on in the nation's capital: Specific Lobbying Issues: Interchange fees,....

Thorsen French Advocacy, founded in 2010, is led by Alec French and Carl Thorsen. The two long-time legislative officials have served in various legal capacities within the US....

Bitcoin Foundation sets the record straight at Capitol Hill

Members of the Bitcoin Foundation educated US policy makers about digital currency in a meeting in Washington DC's Capitol Hill yesterday. Peter Vessenes, Patrick Murck and Marco Santori represented the Bitcoin Foundation and spent the day talking protocol, block chain and mining with representatives from the offices of several congressmen and senators. Santori, who is chair of the foundation's Regulatory Affairs Committee, said the attendees raised a number of concerns including privacy and anti-money laundering issues, but most just wanted to know how the protocol works. "The protocol....
