Steemit is taking its first ever public event to the platform’s European enthusiasts as a three-day conference slated to be held in Amsterdam, Netherlands November 11 - 13. Though supported by the popular social media platform where users get rewarded to post and vote online, SteemFest is organized by a Steem developer and entrepreneur who built the apps SteemyOrNot and RadioSteem. The South African city of Johannesburg kicked off the first edition of Steem Saturday, an event created by community members of the decentralised social media platform Steemit, on Saturday, Oct. 29. Steemit announced on their website that they were hacked. The attack, according to them, has compromised about 260 accounts. A little less than US$ 85,000 worth of Steem Dollars and Steem are reported to have been taken by the attackers. In the security announcement CEO of Steemit Ned Scott said: “User accounts and wallets are not at risk, and we hope to soon reactivate the Steemit website to normal order. The Bitcoin Foundation announced Tuesday the Bitcoin 2014 Event to be held at the Amsterdam Passenger Terminal in Amsterdam, Netherlands on May 15 - 17.
