Keller Williams Realty Lists Tech Entrepreneur’s Waterfront Tiburon Home for $3.6 Million -- Bitcoin Accepted

John Sweeney, who made his fortune during the dot.com boom (and kept it), has put his landmark waterfront Tiburon dream home up for sale for $3.6 million – Bitcoin accepted.

“I believe Bitcoin is going to change the world, and I’m ready to demonstrate my confidence by accepting the digital currency as payment for my one-of-a-kind home,” said Sweeney, a well-known Bay Area sailor and kiteboarder who has relocated from his longtime Tiburon base to his own private island in the Sacramento Delta.

The listing is being handled by Marianne Bordogna of Keller Williams Realty in Danville, CA.

“John’s home commands sweeping and unobstructed west-facing views of Richardson Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, Mount Tam and Sausalito,” Bordogna said.

“Built in 2005, the home features an open floor plan with custom radiant heat concrete floors, designer kitchen with bamboo cabinets, marble countertops, high-end appliances and breakfast bar; three bedrooms, each with private marble/tile bathrooms with heated floors; a powder room, patios, decks, BBQ/lawn areas and a five-car garage with glass doors to showcase the owner’s automobiles. The home, which sits on 30 concrete piers to bedrock 60 feet below, is Feng Shui correct, and utilizes bamboo and other 'green' materials throughout.”

“There have been a number of multi-million-dollar purchases using Bitcoin, but not many on the residential real estate side,” Sweeney said.

“As more real estate transactions are consummated using Bitcoin, this revolutionary currency will continue to gain credibility, with websites such as www.xapo.com and www.coinbase.com leading the way in secure Bitcoin transactions. I want to be on the leading edge of that.”

“I’ve enjoyed the home for many years, and it’s time for someone else to take advantage of the great weather, fantastic views and overall ambiance it provides,” said Sweeney. “No expense – in dollars – was spared in building the house, and now it’s time for me to turn my investment into additional Bitcoins.”

An open house is scheduled Sunday, May 18, at 747 Tiburon Blvd., Tiburon, CA. For details, please contact [email protected] or (925)202-5508. The MLS number for Sweeney’s property is MLS# 21410671.

Perth, Australia Home For Sale in Bitcoin - And Bitcoin Only

Believed to be the first real estate property available for bitcoin in Australia, a home in perth is up for grabs for $1.4 million AUD. The property - in Perth Hills - includes a swimming pool, and a wood-fired pizza over, among other luxuries. But here's the thing. The owner will only accept bitcoin for the sale. That's right, no Australian dollars accepted. The home's owner will obviously modify the BTC price as the price fluctuates (which as we all know, it tends to do). Mark T. Williams to Bitcoin Bulls: Time Will Vindicate My Prediction

Last December, Boston University School of Management professor Mark T. Williams issued a prediction that drew rapt attention from the mainstream media, as well as the united ire of the bitcoin industry, when he boldly projected that the price of bitcoin would lose 99% of its value and fall below $10 by the end of June 2014. However, at press time, the price of bitcoin on CoinDesk's USD Bitcoin Price Index remains well above this figure, rising 34% in May to pass the US$600 mark. But, if Williams was hoping the community would forget his prediction, he was proven false this week when a....
