**PRESS RELEASE** for immediate release -- The Oxford Blue Becomes First Pub in UK to accept Online Digital Currency Feathercoin!

Feathercoin, the online digital currency, will be celebrating its first offline payment at The Oxford Blue Pub on Saturday 20th July. This will be a one day event to test the long term potential.

You've probably heard of Bitcoin but what most people don't know is that it is just one of many alternative digital currencies ("alts" or "cryptos" to the community) that are taking on the banking system. Organised at the grass roots level support for Feathercoin has grown out of the UK to more than 2,000 community members (best estimate) from all over the world including East Asia, the Americas and Australia since its launch in April this year.

While the origins of Bitcoin remain unclear, the founder of Feathercoin Peter Bushnell says he values transparency. After 10 years working as the head of IT at Oxford University's Brasenose College Peter decided it was time for a new challenge and that is when Feathercoin was born right here in the heart of Oxford, UK.

The owner of the Oxford Blue, Chris Murray said:

"I was delighted to be asked to be the first pub in the world to accept Feathercoins as payment, I had already heard about Bitcoins but I wanted to support this local project".

Software has been written for free by a talented developer from Manchester UK to enable Chris to process the payments with his existing cash register. Anybody with an interest in digital currency will be welcome to join in and take part in an open discussion with the UK Feathercoin team members and there will be a live video linkup to the rest of the global community.

Feathercoin is a community led alternative to the legacy banking system which launched on 16th April 2013 during the height of Bitcoin's rise to $260. The Feathercoins can be created by anyone with a computer using a special piece of software called a "miner" that can be downloaded for free on the web. This mining process rewards them with new coins in exchange for their computer's processing power which is used to process Feathercoin payments across the internet.

There is a hard limit of 336 Million coins that can ever be produced with a total number of 9.8 Million in circulation at the time of writing. Feathercoins can be spent on an eBay style Marketplace at market.feathercoin.com and a growing number of other online market places. The current market cap is $895,391 USD.
