Seattle Seahawks’ Marshawn Lynch among Investors in Blockchain Startup Chronicled

A San Francisco-based technology company Chronicled Inc. has raised US$1.4 million in a funding round participated by Pantera Capital, Mandra Capital, Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch and several angel investors to build a consumer authentication platform to eliminate counterfeit goods using smart labels. The labels will be tracked and encoded on a distributed public ledger called the blockchain to create a transparent record of authenticity, ownership and provenance for both buyers and sellers. Through the partnership with Identiv and the newly raised funds, the startup will continue....

Chronicled Raises $3.4 Million to Bring Blockchain Verification to Sneaker Trade

Chronicled, a startup leveraging blockchain tech to help authenticate collectible sneakers, has raised $3.42m in seed funding. The round was led by Hong Kong-based VC firm Mandra Capital and included support from avid industry investor Pantera Capital and Colbeck Capital Management. Founded in 2014, Chronicled seeks to ensure the authenticity of consumer products using ‘smart tags’ that can be inserted in shoes and linked to a user’s Apple or Android app. Chronicled then uses blockchain technology to register the shoes on a distributed ledger, which it says allows for the creation of an....

Chronicled Introduces New Ethereum-Powered IoT Open Registry

Chronicled, a blockchain startup headquartered in San Francisco, has introduced an Ethereum blockchain-based physical asset verification platform that enables companies and manufacturers to register and verify physical items in an irrefutable and decentralized network. Chip companies, physical IP creators and manufacturers can authenticate embedded Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Near Field Communication (NFC) chips on the Chronicled-Ethereum platform, which serves as an interoperable backend for app developers and consumers. The startup’s launch of its interoperable and tamper-proof....

Chronicled Demos Blockchain-Connected Delivery Drone

Blockchain-based startup Chronicled recently revealed a drone prototype with interoperability between the Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain. The firm released a video of a drone that is registered to a public blockchain with a BLE identity chip, allowing it to self-automate package delivery. Blockchain Startup Chronicled Launches Ethereum IoT Registry

In an effort to build a standard for the emerging Internet of Things (IoT), Chronicled is open sourcing a tool for registering connected devices on the ethereum blockchain. Described as a "cross between Wikipedia and Carfax" for consumer goods, the platform will register the identities of near-field communication (NFC) and bluetooth low energy (BLE) chips, components of IoT that today allow smartphones to “talk” with other devices. While the IoT has been hailed as an inevitability, technology experts ague that a fragmentation of standards have held back its adoption. Today,....
