Crypto holders in China are protected by the law in case of theft, misappropriation or breach of a loan agreement despite the ban on crypto. Gox has allegedly announced that they're still in possession of about 200,000, just over 20 percent of the 850,000 bitcoins claimed to have been lost some weeks ago.
