Bitcoin Turns Five Today
It may seem difficult to take in, but bitcoin today turns five years of age. On January 3rd, 2009, the block chain was born, thus laying down the cornerstone of the bitcoin protocol as we know it. As bitcoin really only began to get noticed in 2013 (thanks to massive price peaks in April and then November), some may have reached the conclusion is was something brand-new. But that isn't the case. And so it was that the first block of the block chain - also known as the Genesis Block - came to be. Several days later, on the 9th of January, Satoshi Nakamoto released version 0.1 of the bitcoin....

So there's interest in Bitcoin on Chinese search engine Baidu, and there's also interest in Bitcoin on Yahoo. But what about Google? Turns out it is! If you take a look at today's Google Trends list, you'll see that Bitcoin appears as number 7 (at least at the time of this writing). Late yesterday evening we published our twice daily bitcoin price watch piece. In the article, we suggested that - as a result of the bullish momentum we had seen in the bitcoin price throughout the European session on Tuesday - we would be looking for a continuation of that momentum and a carry through of our breakout strategy to the upside. I noticed a bit of an issue today when trying to withdraw a small amount of bitcoin from Coinbase to my TREZOR device that I'm testing out. As it were, nothing has happened.
