Nymi's Bitcoin Wallet Uses Heart Rhythm to Allow Access to Funds

In establishing this website, one of my goals was to feature new products that make us all go wow. Here we have one of these very products. It's called Nymi, and this Toronto-based company has designed a bitcoin wallet that relies on not keys or password, but your unique heart rhythm to allow access to stored funds. The wallet comes in the form of a wristband with a built-in electrocardiogram sensor to enhance security. "People don't know where their Bitcoin funds are stored, and who can access them. Heartbeat-Sensing Wristband Doubles as Bitcoin Wallet

Canadian wearable-tech startup Boinym has launched a biometric bitcoin wallet that relies on its Nymi smart wristband for authentication. The Nymi wristband has a clever way of confirming the user's identity: it scans the wearer's heartwave using an electrocardiogram (ECG) sensor and matches its pattern to the one stored in its database. This offers 'always on' authentication, as it doesn't require any input from the user, and should function for as long as the user has a pulse. Bionym released the Nymi software development kit (SDK) last November and said at the time that it already had....

Litecoin Electrum Beta Testing

Electrum is arguably the most well known Hierarchical Deterministic (HD) wallet, fully implementing BIP0032. An HD wallet generates all Bitcoin addresses using a specific algorithm from a single seed. A seed is the starting point and can be anything. Further, as Electrum is a 'Type 2' HD wallet, the seed from which all key pairs are generated is presented to the user as a 12 word phrase using common English words. What all this amounts to is a so-called 'brain wallet' that provides particularly convenient back-up capabilities. A user can simply write down 12 plain English words. Then, if....

Change of Heart: Apple Changes Policy to Allow Bitcoin Transmitting Apps

It was just earlier today that NEWSBTC had written about Apple's upcoming software announcements in San Francisco, California. We asked whether or not we could learn today why Apple was shunning bitcoin-related applications, such as Coinbase and Blockchain.info - which have been removed due to alleged policy violations. What we learned was something a whole lot different: Apple is now allowing bitcoin and other virtual currency wallet applications, as opposed to only allowing informational applications. The change of heart is published in the company's App Store Review Guidelines, section....
