Bitcoin Client Downloads in Russia Decline by 90% in One Month

Russian rubles from 1995. Photo via LostBob Photos. It seems that Russia's ban on the usage of Bitcoin is working. As early as this time last month, Russia was actually in the top 3 when it came to ranking Bitcoin client download totals by country. It seemed that Russians were extremely interested in the digital currency, until certain members of the Russian government started to talk about Bitcoin in a negative manner. Russia is now in seventh place when it comes to Bitcoin downloads per week, which is a rather low spot for one of the largest countries in the world. China and the United....

Downloads of the free bitcoin-QT client in the country have soared in the last month, surpassing the US - the former world leader - and topping the downloads table with 777. Martin Stránský, CEO of Prague-based bitcoin center wBTCb, attributed the rise in part to the country's "strong....

Bitcoin Core 0.13.2 Download Triggers False Virus Warnings

Baidu labels the Bitcoin Core 0.13.2 client as a WisdomEyes Trojan, even though that is not the case. Cryptocurrency enthusiasts looking to download the Bitcoin Core client may receive a strange error. In a lot of cases, a Trojan alert will show up, indicating the file download is potentially malicious. However, that does not seem to be the case, and this alert is a false positive. Users are still advised to manually verify the SHA256 checksum for the file, though. It seems rather strange downloading Bitcoin Core would trigger a Trojan warning. According to Reddit sources, the reason....
