WolframAlpha Now Quoting Bitcoin Rates Accurately

As we reported last week, computational search engine WolframAlpha has finally changed their data source to include accurate bitcoin rates. Since first integrating bitcoin and recognized it as a currency, the engine had quoted rates from Mt. Gox - which, as you're likely aware, has been facing a series of issues with their insolvency. As such, users researching bitcoin on the site were presented with the last price before trading was halted completely, a rate of about $130/BTC. Meanwhile, at other exchanges, the going price per bitcoin was above $600. As of this writing, WolframAlpha is....

WolframAlpha to Change Bitcoin Data Source to No Longer Quote Mt. Gox Rates

Late last year, computational knowledge engine WolframAlpha integrated bitcoin support, effectively recognizing the digital currency and allowing the user to find real-time pricing and make calculations. Proof of how quickly things change in the world of bitcoin, the very exchange seemingly most of the community was quoting (at over $1200) late last year is the same exchange to fall below the $500 mark. As of this writing, the bitcoin rate at Mt. Gox is about $484, with a day low of $480 - the lowest it's been this year. That comes in as a 44 percent price drop in the last 30 days, according to chart data. The decrease in value of bitcoin at Mt.
