Last week, Poland's largest bitcoin exchange, Bitcurex, halted all trades to investigate a hacking attack. A malicious user attempted to obtain 19,000 BTC from the exchange with a fraudulent buy order. Bitcurex, one of Poland’s largest exchanges has shut shop after a reported 2300 BTC ($ 1.5 mln) theft. The polish exchange was one of the oldest in the country. Bitcurex has issued an official update stating: "We inform that Bitcurex PLN will be resumed tomorrow, on March 18 at 12:00. Bitcurex EUR will be resumed on thursday on March 20, also at 12:00." Some 9 hours ago, astute Bitcoiners watching Bitcoin exchange charts were greeted by a surprising blip on Poland's largest Bitcoin Exchange: Bitcurex. Bitcurex has been in operation since July 2012, and is operated out of Lodz, Poland under the registered Digital Future Ltd. It seems that a hacker managed to create 94 million PLN (The Polish Zloty) and used the fiat to buy Bitcoin orders on the order book. This morning, it was noted that trading at Polish bitcoin exchange Bitcurex had halted trading temporarily due to issues. At the time it was immediately unclear that the cause of the downtime was related to a hack. In a follow-up statement, the company says they "successfully blocked a hacking attack," adding that "Thanks to automatic safety procedures, hackers manages to defraud only a portion of the funds stored in operational Hot Wallet Bitcurex."
