Litecoin Developer Ports Electrum to Work With LTC

As many in the Bitcoin community know, Electrum is an extremely fast and lightweight bitcoin client. Unlike Bitcoin Core (formerly known as Bitcoin-QT) and other desktop clients, Electrum does not need to download the entire Bitcoin blockchain. Instead, the application relies on several public servers that make the wallet so fast and lightweight. Furthermore, Electrum protects users from accidentally losing coins by allowing wallets to be recovered from a secret phrase. However, the wallet exclusively supports bitcoin, leaving Litecoin users in the dark. At least, that was the case until a....

Electrum Launches Mobile Wallet for Android, iOS Coming

Electrum, Bitcoin's popular lightweight wallet, launched a new version of its software this week. Apart from a desktop client, Electrum 2.6 is now available on Android as well, with an iOS version soon to come. At its heart, the mobile version of Electrum is no different from the available desktop version. The two are fully compatible as well; if the seed from one wallet is imported onto the other, all funds and transactions are synchronized. As such, users don't need to maintain two different balances on their desktop and mobile devices. “The main difference between existing Electrum....

To find out where the broader development community stands on Segregated Witness, Bitcoin Magazine reached out to library and wallet developers, those who will need to do the heavy lifting in order to utilize....

Litecoin Electrum Beta Testing

Electrum is arguably the most well known Hierarchical Deterministic (HD) wallet, fully implementing BIP0032. An HD wallet generates all Bitcoin addresses using a specific algorithm from a single seed. A seed is the starting point and can be anything. Further, as Electrum is a 'Type 2' HD wallet, the seed from which all key pairs are generated is presented to the user as a 12 word phrase using common English words. What all this amounts to is a so-called 'brain wallet' that provides particularly convenient back-up capabilities. A user can simply write down 12 plain English words. Then, if....
