eGifter Pulls a Gyft: Offers 3% Back For Bitcoin Gift Card Purchases

Popular gift card-buying service Gyft made a splash in November of last year when they announced they would be launching a rewards program, offering 3 percent back in the form of points to customers who made gift card purchases in bitcoin. Competitor eGifter is now following suit; announcing today that they have launched a tiered rewards program. Customers using the social gifting company to buy electronic gift cards can now earn 3 percent back for each dollar they spend on over 200 brands. Like Gyft, the percentage is returned as points which can be applied to subsequent purchases.....

Plastic gift cards are so 2012, but going mobile and digital with your gift-card purchases isn't enough anymore. Now you can pay for gift card apps with bitcoins. California-based Gyft, a digital gift card platform serving the US, announced today that it has partnered with BitPay to begin accepting bitcoin payments from customers. While Gyft offers both an iPhone app and an Android app, the bitcoin option will be available only on Android. The app itself is free. Gyft Offers 4 Percent Points Back on Bitcoin Purchases for 24 Hours

On Christmas Eve, gift card-buying service Gyft has announced that for a short time, purchases of gift cards made in bitcoin will earn 4 percent points back from Gyft. Compare that to using a credit card (1 percent points back) and PayPal (2 percent points back). "Given the huge demand and success of Bitcoin Black Friday, we decided to repeat the promotion as a once off for the next 24 hours only (until midnight PST, Dec 25th)," says the announcement.
