If you haven't, it's what's referred to as an "altcoin", or alternative digital currency. And while each dogecoin isn't as valuable as a bitcoin, the currency has an awesome, friendly community behind it. Which is why they decided to start a fundraiser to sponsor a NASCAR race car driver, Josh Wise, at the Talladega Superspeedway after a dogecoin user, Denis Pavel, noticed Wise's car was unsponsored. The Dogecoin community found an innovative way to market themselves to the general public, sponsoring Josh Wise, an overachieving NASCAR driver for the May Talladega race, where he finished 20th. Wise embraced Dogecoin and became an active participant in the Dogecoin subreddit, and /r/Dogecoin rallied once more to vote him into the NASCAR All-Star race, beating out perennial favorite Danica Patrick. NASCAR driver Josh Wise once again drove the Dogecoin-sponsored "Dogecar" in Sunday's Geico 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Despite having a strong car for most of the race, Wise was unable to emerge with a finish as Shibes were hoping he would. Last Sunday, May 4th, Josh Wise came in 20th at the Aaron's 499 race in Talladega. Wise drove the Dogecar, which was sponsored by the NASCAR and Dogecoin reddit communities.
