Blockchain's Nic Cary "Cautiously Optimistic" About Apple Allowing Bitcoin Apps
Monday's biggest story - with no contest - was news related to Apple, unusually enough. The company took to a stage in San Francisco, California to announce new software products, and what happened next came as a shock to the bitcoin community. Apple amended their App Store Review Guidelines policy with regulation 11.17, which declares the following: Apps may facilitate transmission of approved virtual currencies provided that they do so in compliance with all state and federal laws for the territories in which the app functions. One sentence has opened the door to a number of....

Nicolas Cary, CEO of Blockchain (not to be confused with the bitcoin block chain), has taken to the Twitter-waves to tease the company's brand-spanking-new Blockchain Wallet application for Apple iOS devices. "Reddit asks. Reddit gets," Cary's tweet read with a sneak peak screenshot: Cary's tweet today comes just a couple of weeks following Apple's reveal of iOS 8 - the latest iteration of the company's mobile operating system. Shortly after the company seeded the software beta to developers, they released an amended list of App Store rules. In those rules, community members almost....
It was just earlier today that NEWSBTC had written about Apple's upcoming software announcements in San Francisco, California. We asked whether or not we could learn today why Apple was shunning bitcoin-related applications, such as Coinbase and Blockchain.info - which have been removed due to alleged policy violations. What we learned was something a whole lot different: Apple is now allowing bitcoin and other virtual currency wallet applications, as opposed to only allowing informational applications. The change of heart is published in the company's App Store Review Guidelines, section....
Users have reported a bug in the denomination functionality on Blockchain's iOS app whereby orders are being billed in 'bits' - also known as 'uBTC' - rather than 'BTC'. For example, a user buying an item would click the 'Pay with Bitcoin' link, but their wallet (configured to display in 'bits') would send .0843 bits instead of .0843 BTC. CEO Nic Cary says a fix will be implemented in the app's next update "imminently". Following Apple's controversial removal of iOS bitcoin apps in January, the first of the big-name wallets relaunches on the App Store today. Blockchain, which already....
Less than an hour ago, Apple pulled Blockchain.info's iPhone app from the App Store without any specific reason. The email that Blockchain CEO Nicolas Cary received stated that the app had been "removed from the App Store due to an unresolved issue." Interestingly, Blockchain was the only Bitcoin wallet app on the App Store, as other wallet apps such as Coinbase were yanked last year. So at the moment, it looks like there are absolutely no Bitcoin wallet apps on the App Store. So much for that teaser from a few days ago. Coming soon? Probably not at this rate. In response to their app's....
Good news, iPhone owners! Now that Apple has revised its App Store Review Guidelines to allow apps that “facilitate transmission of approved virtual currencies,” more and more bitcoin wallets are popping up on the App Store. CoinJar was the first app to reemerge and just recently, the open source Coin Pocket was approved for App Store distribution. But it’s not going to stop there. A brand new, iOS 7-style Blockchain app is being developed and could be released very soon. A few hours ago, Blockchain’s CEO posted this tweet with a screenshot of the new app: The Bumpy Road to the App Store.....
