KnCMiner Titan to Deliver 400 MH/s, Tape-Out Imminent
KnCMiner has announced the tape-out of its Titan scrypt miner. This means every detail in the chip design has been finalized and it is now moving on to manufacturing, no chip design changes are possible beyond this point. The company said the first batch of Titan miners will ship "well within" the promised timeframe for pre-order customers, which is the third quarter of 2014. Earlier today, KnCMiner updated their website to reveal a Litecoin Mining Hardware tab, right next to their Bitcoin Mining Hardware tab. KnCMiner has announced that production of its Titan line of scrypt miners has moved into a new phase. The cryptocurrency mining hardware maker broke the news on its official blog, indicating that the Titan ASIC chips are now in the wafer encapsulation phase. During this process, a protective layer is applied to electronic components to safeguard the parts from damage caused by temperature and humidity changes. KnCMiner has revealed a few interesting details about its upcoming Titan Scrypt miner, which is expected to ship this summer. The company updated the Titan spec in March, revising performance figures and pledging to deliver upwards of 250MH/s - it originally promised 100MH/s. KnC now says that the Titan ASICs will hit 300MH/s. Each miner will include four ASICs featuring a "record-breaking" 2,284 cores each. KnCMiner Can't Compete in hardware sales, but they might be making it up to their customers now. KnCMiner has been unable to produce quickly and ship mining equipment for some time now. After it's lengthy eight-month wait for Neptune miners, they've decided to do the right thing and stop selling mining equipment to independent miners. KnCMiner has announced its first mining rig dedicated to scrypt mining - the aptly named Titan. At $9,995, it won't come cheap, and the company has not yet revealed its full spec, either. KnC claims the Titan will deliver a minimum of 100MH/s and, in some respects, it resembles a traditional PC, although it is based on the company's Jupiter form factor.
