Argentina and Palo Alto-based bitcoin merchant processing service BitPagos has announced its first seed funding round, raising $600,000 from a list of investors that includes Pantera Capital, venture capitalist Tim Draper, SecondMarket CEO Barry Silbert and the Boost Bitcoin Fund, among others. BitPagos emerged out of the Boost VC accelerator in 2013 and raised more than $150,000 during its first year of operations. Argentinian bitcoin startup Ripio has announced what may be the first funding round of the new year, raising $1.9m in new capital amid a rebranding. The company plans to raise an additional $400,000 in funding over the next 90 days via AngelList, bringing its total funding to $2.3m. BitPagos has acquired Unisend Argentina, the country's first order-book exchange, as part of an undisclosed deal for cash and equity. The announcement follows the sale of the exchange subsidiary Unisend Mexico, and BitPagos' $1.18m funding round finalized last September.
