Review of Hive Web - A Bitcoin Multi-Currency Web Wallet
Hive Web is a cross-platform, multi-currency wallet. This isn't the first time CCN has talked about Hive. A few months ago, CCN covered Hive's gorgeous OS X app and interviewed one of the developers. The Hive team is known for prioritising usability and simplicity, which is highly important considering that most people still don't entirely understand Bitcoin. While Hive has native clients for OS X and Android, it seems the developers wanted to streamline the entire experience by creating a cross-platform, multi-currency web wallet. Hive, the creators of an open-source wallet for Mac OS X, are looking for developers to contribute to the company's expansion. Earlier this year, Hive announced that Hive for Android will be available in late spring, 2014. iOS support is out of the question due to their decision to remove Bitcoin wallets from the app store. Hive, a startup specializing in cryptocurrency wallets, recently released Hive Web, a browser-based wallet that can be used on any device that supports HTML5, a feature now common on most smartphone devices. Hive Web complements two other wallets in Hive's lineup: one for Mac OS X and a mobile version on Android. The Bitcoin wallet Hive is no longer being actively developed. In fact, the creator says that the wallet hasn't had much development in "over a year." Users are told by the wallet’s founder to move their active seeds over to a compatible wallet provider such as Bread Wallet or Mycelium.
