There's now a chance to pick up the domain, with news today that the domain will hit the auction block later this month as part of Heritage Auctions' Domain Names & Intellectual Property Auction, which will see the sale of a slew high-value of web addresses. A restraining order issued by the US District Court of Seattle has resulted in the cancellation of the anticipated auction of the Bitcoins.com domain name. The domain name, currently owned by Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpeles through his company Tibanne KK was expected to be auctioned by US-based auction house Heritage Auctions on 24th July. With recent news that the highly-valuable bitcoins.com domain name was going up for auction, many start-ups and entrepreneurs may have seen an acquisition as nothing short of beneficial. The French government will auction 611 bitcoins that were seized from hackers next week. There will be two sales comprised of 478 lots altogether. Each lot consists of between 0.11 and 20 bitcoins. Paris-based auction house Kapandji Morhange will auction 611 bitcoins on March 17. The company says this is the first auction of seized bitcoin by the French government.
