Mark Karpeles Responds to Critics
The Bitcoin community was in uproar recently after news emerged that Mark Karpeles, the ex - CEO of the now defunct MT Gox, once the largest Bitcoin exchange which allegedly "lost" 850,000 bitcoins to then find 200,000 bitcoins, had started a new hosting company, Forever.net. In an exclusive interview with CCN, I started by asking Mark Karpeles how he was able to fund the new hosting company. "There's no funding" - he stated, clarifying that Tibanne already owns the domain, hosting servers and the VPS. "We only used what we had on our hands" - he continued, explaining that the new company....

Mark Karpeles is back in the headlines with a recent interview with PC World. Beyond launching some new services and returning to Twitter over the last several months, Karpeles has otherwise been reticent about talking about Bitcoin to the press since such conversations invariably lead to the failed Mt. Mt. Gox chief executive and founder Mark Karpeles has fired back at critics in a recent interview with Forbes. Both Karpeles and Mt. According to recent reports, an earlier hacking incident that occurred even before Mark Karpeles took over Mt Gox may have also contributed to its demise. What really happened with Mt Gox, the world’s largest Bitcoin exchange at one time which unfortunately went bankrupt? The bankruptcy was allegedly brought upon it due to the theft of huge amounts of bitcoin by hackers combined with mismanagement and embezzlement by Mark Karpeles, the owner and CEO of Mt Gox at that time. But with conflicting reports going around, it is hard to track the whole operating history of Mt Gox along with the....
The major Bitcoin news headline this weekend came in the form of former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpeles being arrested in Japan. After Bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox was forced to shut down in 2014 due to “funds being stolen by hackers”, a recovery process for affected customers slowly started taking shape. But it looks like justice will be served sooner rather than later, as Mark Karpeles admitted to misusing customer funds. Bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox, which at one time was the largest digital currency exchange platform in the world, has always been controlled by one individual, named Mark Karpeles.....
