The bitcoin world is abuzz with speculation that some of Satoshi Nakamoto's online accounts have been compromised, concerned a hacker could potentially access information concerning the bitcoin creator's true identity or use the accounts to defraud key members of the bitcoin community. The CEO of Bitcoin merchant services industry leader BitPay has suffered a phishing scam that cost the company 5,000 bitcoins or over US$1.8 million, reports the Atlanta Business Chronicle The scam occurred last December and the target was BitPay’s chief financial officer, Bryan Krohn. Back in September, we reported on a blackmailer/hacker who had been DDOS attacking the popular bitcoin sports book Nitrogensports.eu and then blackmailing them into paying a ransom for it to stop. Today, we have been informed by Bitalo.com, a “multi-signature wallet and decentralized exchange” with that they are the latest victim of attacks by the same hacker.
