Coinbase Hosting Bitcoin Meetup In London to Promote UK Launch

Coinbase recently announced an expansion into 13 European countries and has added an additional five last week. To celebrate their launch, Coinbase is hosting a free meetup on October 20 at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen in London. The planned meetup in London is part of a larger European Bitcoin tour by the Coinbase team, presumably to drum up interest in their service. While their official website says that UK Buys and Sells are still disabled, Coinbase Tech support and emails to UK customers suggest that functionality (with SEPA) is just around the corner. One of the most interesting projects in the digital currency ecosystem as of late is OpenBazaar, the decentralized peer-to-peer marketplace. The main objective of the OpenBazaar London Meetup group is to share advice, experiences, and tools to grow a project that could be the next iteration of e-commerce. Due to its decentralized aspect, as well as a strong focus on peer-to-peer trading, OpenBazaar has gotten a lot of attention in....

Satoshipoint Launch Party, ATM's in the UK!

As recently discussed, SatoshiPoint recently launched their first 2 ATM's in London and the 1stATM outside of London in the UK, located in Bristol. The launch party was graciously supplied by SatoshiPoint, drinks and food were freely available and of quite a quantity, needless to say, there were a few tipsy people by the end of the evening (myself included). Hassan Khoshtaghaza. The launch party was relatively small in comparison to bigger events and conferences held in London, numbering around 40-50 people at one time, this allowed it to be excellently open to conversations from everyone....

Coinbase Launches Bitcoin Exchange in the UK

Coinbase has launched its bitcoin wallet, exchange and merchant services in the UK. The UK is only the second country, after the US, to gain access to the San Francisco-based company's bitcoin trading platform - Coinbase Exchange. Coinbase co-founder and CEO Brian Armstrong said the decision to launch in the UK was partly influenced by his trip to London last year. "The interest in the UK is at a different level than it is elsewhere in Europe. We got the sense that the demand there was really high ... [and] London is a financial capital of the world, so it was a logical next step," he....

A night at a London Bitcoin Meetup

Robin Dhara connects people. He meets a lot of people on his travels. But he hadn't met any bitcoin people ... so we sent him to a London Bitcoin Meetup to see what he could learn. I have to admit I'm late in coming to the bitcoin party. It's a new topic for me. I wasn't quite sure what to expect of a meeting at the back of a tourist pub in Paddington last week. When I arrived, I couldn't see anyone who looked "bitcoiny" or part of a new tech revolution. But there was a clearing at the back of the room, where a crowd had gathered, taking it in turns to speak around a pool table. This was....
