Bitstamp Reminds Users That Unverified Accounts Will Be Closed

Bitstamp users are being warned that if their accounts are unverified, they won't be active for much longer. The exchange took to their news page recently to remind users of a change in the company's Verification Policy that took effect on the 4th of September, 2013 in which accounts that are not verified violate Bitstamp's AML/KYC (anti-money laundering/know-your-customer) policies. Bitstamp to resume trading later on Friday

Bitstamp, one of the largest exchanges for the digital Bitcoin currency, said it would resume trading later on Friday after suspending operations because of a security breach on Sunday, Reuters reports. Damijan Merlak, one of Bitstamp's two Slovenian founders, told Reuters in an emailed message on Friday: "Trading will resume during the day today." On Wednesday, Bitstamp had said it expected that trading could resume within 24 hours and added that customers would not lose money because of the breach and that security would be increased. Bitstamp Claims $5 Million Lost in Hot Wallet Hack

Slovenian state-owned news agency STA is reporting that Bitstamp expects to resume services within 24 hours. Bitstamp has released a new statement regarding the security of its website, admitting that it has lost "less than 19,000 BTC", about $5.1m at press time. The revelation follows the disclosure that Bitstamp's wallet system was compromised, prompting it to halt deposits and later shut down its platform entirely.
