Bitnodes Project Issues First Incentives For Node Operators

The Bitnodes project issued its first incentive last week and will continue to do so until the end of 2015 or until 10,000 nodes are running. The program uses an incentive program started as an experimental process to reward those who run a node. Rewards for running full nodes are being paid in bitcoin. A Bitcoin node is a part of the network that allows....

Bitnodes Launches 'Power-Efficient' Bitseed Rival

Addy Yeow, the developer behind Bitnodes, has released a new hardware bitcoin node. According to the website, which monitors bitcoin node performance worldwide, the Bitnodes Hardware B1 model comes equipped with the latest version of Bitcoin Core and is said to be a low footprint quad-core single-board computer built and configured to operate a dedicated bitcoin full node. In interview, Yeow said: "The goal of Bitnodes Hardware is to provision ready-to-run hardware for everyday consumer to launch their own Bitcoin node at home and become part of the network for a truly disruptive....

Bitcoin Node Network Marks An All-Time High After A Roller Coaster Journey

Bitcoin Nodes recently hit an all-time high of 13,000+ from 11,613 in January. This is the first time the nodes are crossing the mark and increased from what it was in early 2021. From the data released by Bitnodes.io, the reachable Bitcoin nodes achieve this increase earlier in July. Bitnodes.io is a dashboard where you […]

Bitcoin Node Numbers Fall After Spam Transaction 'Attack'

The number of reachable nodes has declined further following an "attack" that overloaded the bitcoin network. Last week, an unknown actor sent a deluge of spam that left bitcoin's nodes - the clients that store and relay transactions - with upwards of 88,000, or 1GB worth, waiting in their collective memory pool. As Jay Feldis from hardware node maker BitSeed explained to CoinDesk, many low-spec nodes simply could not keep up: "Eventually, the transaction backlog fills-up the RAM memory of the nodes. This causes the node computers to slow down dramatically or even freeze-up. If a node....

Bitcoin network node count sets new all-time high

Bitcoin’s node count has achieved another all-time high milestone with almost half of the nodes running on Tor. The number of reachable Bitcoin network nodes has crossed the 13,000 mark for the first time. As previously reported by Cointelegraph, the previous all-time high was 11,613 achieved back in January.According to data from Bitcoin network statistics dashboard Bitnodes.io, this milestone was reached back on July 5 when the number of reachable nodes clocked in at 13,374. At the time of writing, Bitnodes’ data puts the current network node count at about 12,835, Coin.Dance, another....

Tor-enabled Bitcoin nodes are back after bug on network

Anonymous Tor-enabled Bitcoin nodes normally make up as much as 25% of totally reachable Bitcoin nodes. According to the latest data from node monitoring resource Bitnodes, Tor-enabled Bitcoin (BTC) nodes are back to normal following almost a full-swing crash in early January 2021. As of Jan. 13, the number of reachable Tor-based BTC nodes amounted to 2,581, up from as few as 122 nodes on Jan. 9.Based on Bitnodes data, Tor-enabled Bitcoin nodes make up a significant part of the Bitcoin network, normally accounting for about 25% of totally reachable running nodes. According to the latest....
