Blockchain Startup Digital Asset Hires SWIFT and SunGard Veterans
Blockchain startup Digital Asset has added two financial services veterans to its team, drawing talent from software maker SunGard and international payments network SWIFT. Former Sungard president and CEO Cristóbal Conde will serve as a non-executive board member, according to a company release. SunGard, founded in 1982, was recently acquired for $5.1bn by Fidelity National Information Services (FIS). Digital Asset Holdings has announced that it has acquired the assets and senior leadership of a Zurich-based technology startup. Elevence CEO Vincent Peikert will lead Digital Asset's Switzerland office, and serve as head of product for Europe. Bitcoin custodian Elliptic has been selected to compete for a $50,000 prize in the Startup Challenge Finale at SWIFT's Sibos conference. Some 370 companies applied to take part in the challenge and Elliptic was one of 15 companies selected to compete in the Innotribe Startup Challenge showcase, which took place in London last week. Elliptic was one of two finalists in the growth-stage startup category, the other being xWare42, which enables banks to give customers additional information on their bank statements about their purchases. HyperLedger, a blockchain startup progressed to the finals stage of the Innotribe New York Showcase. The finals will be held at Sibos Singapore after regional showcases in Asia, Africa, and Europe.
