Blockchain identity startup Cambridge Blockchain has raised more than $1.7m in new funding, public records show. According to a Form D published today by the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Cambridge Blockchain has raised $1,785,000 out of a total $2m, indicating that the startup's funding efforts are ongoing. Ethereum startup Ethcore has raised $750,000 in a preliminary, pre-seed funding round led by Silicon Valley-based Blockchain Capital and Shanghai-based Fenbushi Capital. Ethcore intends to further pursue the development of the Ethereum blockchain stack and assist partners who wish to innovate using the smart contract platform. Gem, a blockchain platform provider, has announced that it has closed a Series A funding round in which it has secured $7.1 million USD in venture capital funding. This funding round, led by Pelion Venture Partners, places Gem in an early lead for 2016 blockchain investment. Several firms participated in this funding round, including KEC Ventures, Blockchain Capital, Digital Currency Group and RRE Ventures.
