Hackers from All over the World Failed to Break pCloud's Security

The $100 000 pCloud Crypto Challenge award remained intact.

Hackers from all over the world were challenged to break pCloud's security but none of them succeeded. This way the prize of $100,000 or its equivalent in Bitcoin remained untouched. The pCloud Crypto Hacking Challenge started back in September 2015 aiming to prove the quality of the encrypted security system the company offers. 188 days, two challenge rounds and 2,860 participants later, there have been 0 successful attempts.

"The conclusion is clear: our Crypto security system is unbreakable. We've proven that pCloud delivers the most secure cloud storage service on the market so far," said Tunio Zafer, CEO of pCloud.

"We started the challenge to prove to our existing and future clients that with pCloud their files are as safe as they can be. The best way to prove it was to test our service by challenging hackers from all over the world to break into our Crypto Folder and the result in the pCloud Crypto vs. hackers game is 2:0."

The majority of hackers' attempts were made from the US – 18%, followed by India – 14%, Great Britain – 9%, Portugal – 6% and Italy - 3%.

At the end of the challenge the company publicly disclosed the content from the encrypted folder users had to break into by publishing the encryption key on the Crypto Challenge page.

pCloud Crypto is a revolutionary way to protect your personal files in pCloud. Each Crypto user uses a personally created password, which allows protected access to their uploaded files from any device. Even pCloud administrators can't see what the encrypted folders contain.

Anyone interested in the service can try pCloud Crypto for free with a 14-day trial period by registering and downloading the app from the company’s website.
