Purse.io Fights for Its Share in E-Commerce, Launches Pre-Order Service
San Francisco-based platform Purse.io unleashed its Pre service, allowing customers to pre-order some of the latest tech in the world. Thanks to Purse's own Bitcoin escrow service, Bitcoin payment for orders will be locked to the merchant until a customer has received or cancelled his or her order. Following recent coverage of a potential exploit on services that rely on Amazon Wishlist for order fulfillment, Purse.io, a Bitcoin service that allows users to "buy" goods on Amazon using Bitcoin at a heavily discounted price, has clarified that this particular scam has long been dealt with for Purse users. Bitcoin e-commerce startup Purse has raised $1m in seed funding in a round led by investor Barry Silbert's Digital Currency Group. The funding is the latest for Purse, which runs a two-sided e-commerce marketplace that offers both steep discounts to Amazon shoppers willing to pay in bitcoin and allows gift cards to be exchanged for digital currency.
