Vitalik Buterin to Debut Ethereum Scaling Paper at Devcon

Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin will present a new version of the project's 'mauve paper' at a developer conference in Shanghai next week. Scheduled for 19th September, a talk called "Mauve Revolution" will focus on scaling features still in development on the decentralized application platform, including sharding and proof-of-stake. R3 Publishes Vitalik Buterin Report on Ethereum for Banks

R3CEV has released a new report evaluating how the alternative blockchain platform Ethereum could be used by banks engaged in consortium and private blockchain initiatives. Penned by Ethereum inventor Vitalik Buterin, the more than 40-page report provides a technical overview of Ethereum’s architecture and applications in finance, as well as an analytical look at how financial institutions can seek to build private blockchains using the technology and the issues they may face in doing so. For those uncomfortable navigating the sometimes dense language more common to white papers, the....

Vitalik Buterin Pitches Hyperledger Project on Ethereum Integration

Ethereum inventor Vitalik Buterin addressed the Hyperledger technical steering committee earlier today, discussing the ways in which it might be able to integrate the Ethereum blockchain into its existing codebases, or replace them altogether. Currently, Hyperledger’s primary proof-of-concept consists of elements of three different sets of code contributed by IBM and startups Blockstream and Digital Asset Holdings, and combined into what the group calls a “fabric”. During Buterin's lengthy address to representatives from the group of technology and finance companies he covered everything....

Toward Metropolis: After Blockchain Repairs, Ethereum Looks Ahead

Ethereum's developers are shifting focus. Following efforts to make the blockchain-based distributed application network more resistant to attacks, two planned hard forks and one unintentional split, ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin, at least, is turning his attention to a new milestone. In a blog post this week, Buterin revealed he's now focusing his efforts on Metropolis, the next "stage" of the project (loosely scheduled for release in Q1 or Q2 2017). The upcoming changes will clear the way for what Buterin calls "abstraction", or moving most of ethereum’s complex....

Deloitte Opens Ethereum Identity Platform to Blockchain Developers

"Papers, please" is a phrase with the power to send shivers through the spines of immigrants and travelers the world over. The ability to prove who one is has a long history of being abused by authoritarian governments and companies looking to generate revenue. But with the advent of distributed ledger technologies, that power is on the precipice of being offerred to the people by private companies for the first time. One of a rising number of those firms is "Big Four" accounting services provider, Deloitte, which later today is expected to publicly announce plans to....
