Japanese Bitcoin Exchange Launches ¥50 Million Startup Fund

Japanese bitcoin exchange BitFlyer has created a new startup fund aimed at investing in companies working on blockchain technologies. Dubbed the 'Blockchain Angel Fund', the newly created fund has an initial size of ¥50m, or roughly $421,000. BitFlyer said in a press release earlier this week that it will focus on seed-stage investments. The first company to receive support is an app development startup called Savira, based in Osaka, Japan. The Japanese exchange Bitflyer has announced the company is investing 50 million Yen to help bolster the startup Sivira. The investment which was close to a half of million USD and is a first for the exchange. Asian Bitcoin Exchange Raises $16 Million in Ongoing Series A

A bitcoin exchange startup based in Singapore has raised $16m as part of an ongoing Series A round led by a Japanese investment fund. Quoine announced earlier this week that it had raised the funds from investment fund JAFCO, which has confirmed its participation in the round, as well as a group of undisclosed angel investors.
