White Hat Hackers Could Have Crashed Ethereum Classic

All of this comes on the heels of the self-professed white hat hackers stating how “the funds are secure”. There seems to be some confusion regarding the white hat hackers who allegedly obtained the 7 million ETC from The DAO assailant. Whereas most people were under the impression this funds would be returned to DAO token holders, the reality is very different. Several of the transactions were sent to Kraken and Poloniex addresses. There is no official statement as to why this decision was made, or what it even means. Keeping 7 million Ethereum Classic coins is not an easy task. Even if....

All Eyes on Ethereum Classic As Hacked DAO Funds Is On The Move

It goes without saying this debacle has been spurring a new debate among Ethereum enthusiasts. Many people feel the developers should send a cease and desist letter to the ETC developers for violating the Ethereum trademark. Although things have been relatively quiet around the DAO for some time now, a new development has occurred. A large amount of Ethereum Classic funds was still eligible for withdrawal by the hacker. As it turns out, the funds have been moved several hours ago. However, the ETC price across exchanges is not dipping, and the coins are not being dumped. Ever since The DAO....

DAO Hacker Donates Some Stolen Funds To The Ethereum Classic Developers

The DAO hacker has moved his stolen Ethereum from the Ethereum Classic chain, donating part of it to the Ethereum Classic developers. The move of the stolen funds from the DAO hack occurred earlier this week. As his first action with the funds the hacker sent 1,000 ETC, about $1,500, to the address associated with Ethereum Classic’s development team, leading to speculation that the initial hack might have been motivated by a desire to fork Ethereum (which ended up being a result of the hack). The issue some....

Can Ethereum Classic Classic Become Ethereum Classic’s Ethereum Classic?

Ethereum Classic is preparing another hard fork. It was announced in statements published last week that the project’s development and mining community is committing to a change in its monetary policy by December of this year. Essentially a move to a new protocol, all current Ethereum Classic users and miners should have upgraded their software by then. If everyone does not upgrade their software, the project can split into two incompatible networks, blockchains and currencies. Of course, that is exactly how Ethereum Classic itself broke away from the Ethereum Foundation’s Ethereum last....
