Bitcoin Markets Remain Stagnant Around $570, Although Conditions Are Slowly Improving

We are now in the slowest trading period of the year for both the legacy and cryptocurrency markets, which means volatility and volume should remain light until after the Labor Day weekend in the US. Bitcoin has once again flatlined around the $570 level as the summer doldrums roll on. Traditionally the late August timeframe is the slowest time of the year for the financial markets considering it is the most popular time of year for pre-“back to school” vacationing. Up until recently this phenomenon has avoided the small crypto markets due to a lack of traditional players, although over....

Bitcoin Price Edging Higher

Bitcoin price continues edging higher in strained advance. A pullback is due. We now have a valid MA buy signal in the 1hr chart (not shown), but the conditions outlined in yesterday’s analysis remain unfulfilled for a long entry. The target will be the intersection of the 1.618 Fib extension and the overhead resistance ceiling near $435 (Bitstamp). Bitcoin price is heading upwards, but a reversal seems imminent. Wait for the....

Bitcoin Breaks To The Downside Following Another Failure At Resistance

Despite a relatively slow market over the past few weeks due to the “summer doldrums,” it now appears as though volatility is making a slow return on both the upside and the downside. With that in mind, the technicals remain key in this environment. Last week when we returned from the Labor Day holiday in the US, the Bitcoin markets decided to take a jaunt to the upside to test what has been heavy resistance in the $630 area for over a month. Despite staying elevated for the better part of the week, this weekend brought a round of technical selling which took the price from the mid-$620’s....
