Coen Brothers Take Silk Road Story to Big Screen, Oscar in View
How a 29-year-old Ross Ulbricht (aka Dread Pirate Roberts) built an online illegal-drug marketplace called "The Silk Road" will soon be in motion picture. Ulbricht was sentenced to life in prison last year by Judge Katherine Forrest in New York after being handed five sentences: one for 20 years, one for 15 years, one for five and two for life. All are to be served concurrently with no chance of parole. The Coen brothers, independent U.S. movie makers who are known for making acclaimed dramatic movies, will help script a Fox movie about Ross Ulbricht and the Silk Road marketplace, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Ulbricht was convicted in February of 2015 of seven felony charges including drug trafficking, conspiracy to commit money laundering, conspiracy to commit computer hacking and a kingpin charge.
