We may still be waiting for the 'blockchain revolution', but the world saw no shortage of new revolutionaries join the effort in 2016. From blockchain consortium R3CEV (which ballooned to more than 70 members) to the open-source Hyperledger project (which has nearly 100), most of the growth was on the institutional side, with some of the world's largest businesses announcing interest in the emerging tech.
