Ethereum flips Bitcoin’s node count

A surge of validators awaiting Eth2 staking has pushed Ethereum’s node count to 11,259 — surpassing Bitcoin by more than 100. Ethereum 2.0 genesis stakers have pushed the total number of Ethereum nodes past the number of Bitcoin nodes for the second time this year.According to Ethernodes.org, 11,259 Ethereum nodes are currently active, giving it a roughly 1% lead over Bitcoin’s 11,136. Ethereum’s node count last surpassed Bitcoin’s in early September. The number of Ethereum nodes has increased by more than 50% in the past two weeks or so, spiking from 8,086 on Nov. 15 — 11 days after the....

Bitcoin network node count sets new all-time high

Bitcoin’s node count has achieved another all-time high milestone with almost half of the nodes running on Tor. The number of reachable Bitcoin network nodes has crossed the 13,000 mark for the first time. As previously reported by Cointelegraph, the previous all-time high was 11,613 achieved back in January.According to data from Bitcoin network statistics dashboard Bitnodes.io, this milestone was reached back on July 5 when the number of reachable nodes clocked in at 13,374. At the time of writing, Bitnodes’ data puts the current network node count at about 12,835, Coin.Dance, another....

The Role of Bitcoin Nodes: Do Full Nodes Running in Data Centers Benefit the Bitcoin Network?

Since its launch, Bitcoin Classic's node count has steadily increased. The latest release of the alternative Bitcoin implementation even topped the charts, with almost 3,000 Bitcoin Classic 0.12 nodes reachable on the network. But a closer look at these statistics reveal some odd details. First, IP-data suggests that many Bitcoin Classic nodes might not really be many Bitcoin Classic nodes at all. Instead, a single node could use multiple IP addresses to spoof total node count. This possibility appears more likely in light of the observation that very few Bitcoin Classic nodes seem to be....

Bitcoin Unlimited Node Count Reaches All-time High

The bigger question is how things will evolve from here on out. Bitcoin Core's SegWit adoption seems to have stagnated, even though a few more companies pledged support for this block scaling solution. Bitcoin nodes are an integral part of the network, as they allow for transactions to be broadcasted to other users all over the world. With the ongoing “issues” between Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Unlimited, it is always interesting to keep an eye on their individual node counts. It appears BU is getting some additional support right now, as they reached a network node all-time high. At the....

Flipped: Ethereum now processes 28% more transactions than Bitcoin

Messari estimates Ethereum’s daily transaction volume is now 28% greater than Bitcoin's. The daily volume of transactions on the Ethereum (ETH) network is now 28% greater than on Bitcoin (BTC), according to crypto analytics firm Messari. On Jan. 19, Messari’s Ryan Watkins tweeted that Ethereum’s daily transaction volume “is going parabolic” alongside a chart indicating that Ethereum and Ethereum-powered stablecoins have processed $12.3 billion in transactions over the past 24 hours — dwarfing Bitcoin and Omni-based USDT’s $9.3 billion.Ethereum's daily transaction volume is going....

Incentivized Node Schemes Are a Bad Idea for Bitcoin

Bitcoin is an intricate system made up of the humans using the protocol, applications that surround it, miners, and nodes. Recently, there has been an argument that full nodes encompassing the network should be incentivized and adopt a two-tier system like some current altcoins. However, contributing the full block reward to the mining architecture is a....
