Digital artist Bleeple cemented his place in the history books with this one. Auction house Christie’s sold his human-size 3D video sculpture and NFT hybrid in their first live event since the pandemic. The piece exceeded expectations, the projections had “Human One” selling for $15M and it almost doubled that. Does this hybrid format open a new chapter for NFT art? Former baseball player Micah Johnson sold $2 million worth of NFTs depicting his sculpture. Micah Johnson, a former MLB player-turned artist, sold a whopping $1 million worth of tokenized art in just one minute on the Winklevoss-owned NFT marketplace Nifty Gateway.The auction, which launched on Feb. 21 and lasted for 28 hours, generated $2 million worth of sales in total. PRESS RELEASE. The preservation of the Euro sculpture in downtown Frankfurt, Germany, has been in danger in recent months as no sponsors were willing to provide the required financing. Christie’s to auction its first purely digital work by Mike “Beeple” Winkelmann through an NFT marketplace. British auction house Christie’s has announced the auction of its first ever “purely digital work of art." Announcing the news Tuesday, Christie’s said that the NFT artwork will be issued in partnership with major NFT marketplace, MakersPlace.
