Bitcoin.org goes offline after suffering scam attack

Bitcoin.org previously fell victim to a DDoS attack in July, with hackers demanding a Bitcoin ransom. Bitcoin.org, one of the first websites about Bitcoin (BTC), has been hacked by online scammers and down as of the time of writing. Cobra, Bitcoin.org’s anonymous curator, announced on Sept. 23 that Bitcoin.org was compromised, with hackers managing to put up a scam notice on the site.“Looks like Bitcoin.org got hacked and the entire site replaced with a scam asking for free Bitcoin. Kraken Says DDoS Attack Took Bitcoin Exchange Offline

San Francisco-based Bitcoin exchange, Kraken, experienced unexpected downtime today due to a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack on their site. Whether or not the attack was malicious or due to a recent influx of users is unknown. Bitcoin Exchange BTC-e Is Taken Down By New DDOS Attack

Early on Thursday morning, about 5:30 AM Eastern Standard Time to be exact, the Bitcoin exchange BTC-e is reporting that they are under DDoS attack and their site is currently offline. Going to the btc-e.com website returns a white page saying “DB connect error,” so there is no more information available from BTC-e. This is the second time this year that BTC-e has been taken down in this fashion.
